Art Club in Bristol

Art Club in Bristol

We're thrilled that the exhibition for the art from series 2 of 'Grayson's Art Club' is going to be held at the fantastic Bristol Museum & Art Gallery, beginning in December.

During lockdown, Grayson Perry helped the nation find comfort and company through art as part of his TV series by Swan Films for Channel 4.

The artworks created by the public, established artists, and celebrities are powerful and very personal responses to the pandemic and form a lasting artistic record of the unprecedented times the nation has experienced together.

Season two began airing in February and each week Grayson hosted the show from his studio with his wife, Philippa (and often their cat, Kevin). Using video chat, Grayson spoke to famous artists and creatives about how they were spending their time and invited them to respond creatively to lockdown. Each week a different theme – family, nature, food, dreams, work, and travel – was explored.

Members of the public were also invited to share their own artworks and thousands of entries were submitted throughout the series in a vast range of mediums – from paintings and photography, to ceramics and textiles.

These works will feature in the exhibition exclusively at Bristol Museum & Art Gallery alongside pieces by Grayson and Philippa Perry and the guest celebrities and artists.

Contributing celebrities include Alex Horne, Anneka Rice, Boy George, Derren Brown, Holly Walsh, Jane Seymour, Johnny Vegas, Lianne La Havas, Mawaan Rizwan and Russell Tovey. Guest artists include David Bailey, Yinka Ilori, Lucy Sparrow, Polly Morgan, Sir Frank Bowling and Chila Kumari Burman-Singh.

“I am honoured and delighted that the second Grayson’s Art Club exhibition will be held at Bristol Museum & Art Gallery. I am especially pleased for all the artists who have contributed to Art Club that they will get to show their work in such a prestigious venue in a great city.”
